Mathematics in English at Eötvös University: tradition, research and education

General information for students in Mathematics BSc

BSc-in-Mathematics: one year (partial) program in English for visiting students

Each term about 10 courses will be offered for selection; from this list 5-6 courses will be chosen, based on students’ interest. The courses will not start in case of low enrollment (below 3 students). The courses are (almost) independent, thus they can be taken in (almost) any order during a one year program.

  • Based of students’ interest, a selection will be offered from the following list of subjects:
  • Applied Linear Algebra
  • Groups and Rings
  • Galois theory
  • Chapters in Number Theory
  • Multivariate Analysis
  • Measure Theory
  • Complex Analysis
  • Topology
  • Elementary Lie theory
  • Functional Analysis
  • Differential Equations
  • Numerical Analysis
  • Chapters in Geometry
  • Differential Geometry
  • Chapters in Graph Theory
  • Coding Theory
  • Set Theory
  • Operations Research
  • Probability Theory
  • Mathematical statistics
  • Problem solving – Chapters in Elementary Mathematics

Please, note that the list of offered subjects may change in time.

Program: Detailed description of the subjects.

Prerequisites: At least two years of BSc studies in Mathematics will be assumed. Thus basic algebra (including linear algebra) and analysis (differentiation and integration) as well as the aquaintance with fundamental objects (graphs, matrices, vector spaces etc.) plus certain mathematical maturity is needed for all courses.
